The Catalyst programme helps unemployed young people aged 18-25 to:
> Build their confidence, self esteem and motivation to succeed
> Gain valuable practical experience, knowledge and qualifications
> Develop skills for life and work
> Overcome their barriers to opportunity
> Move into a positive outcome and next step towards a more independent and rewarding future
Is it for you?
The programme is a combination of workshops, practical experience, group work and 1:1 support and mentoring. It takes place two days per week for six weeks (three days in week three).
◊ Week 1 focusses on the group getting to know each other and team building
◊ Week 2 is spent planning and organising a social action project
◊ Week 3 is when you'll work as a team to deliver your social action project
◊ Week 4 provides opportunities to complete vocational training and gain a formal qualification (including First Aid)
◊ Week 5 focusses on developing employability skills, understanding what employers are looking for and how to demonstrate your value
◊ Week 6 is where you review your progress and develop your next steps plan.
The programme then moves into the 1:1 mentoring stage where you are supported to set and achieve personal goals with the ultimate aim of moving on into employment, further education or training. During this period you'll have opportunities to gain genuine work experience and develop further skills and knowledge by participating in a range of other activities and Young Kent programmes.
